Share the Gospel
Church Quake was founded with a conviction to bring the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to people who need hope.
Founded by Pastors Don Burkhalter and Tom Akins with one powerful vision:
To shake the earth with the life-changing power and love of Jesus Christ.Church Quake was founded on June 5, 2003, by Pastors Don Burkhalter and Tom Akins — two Spirit-filled men of God who shared one powerful vision:
To shake the earth with the life-changing power and love of Jesus Christ.
Both men had served faithfully in pastoral ministry for many years. Through that experience, they came to understand that fulfilling the Great Commission means ministering to the whole person — spiritually and physically.
It means sharing the Gospel with those who need hope. Feeding those who are hungry. Caring for children who have no one else. Reaching communities where there is suffering and reminding people that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.
Church Quake was founded with a conviction to bring the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to people who need hope.
The mission has never been limited to words. Feeding, caring, helping, and responding to practical needs are part of the ministry.
The founders believed fulfilling the Great Commission means entering real communities, building relationships, and standing beside people in moments of need.
Church Quake exists to make the love of Jesus visible through compassion, service, and consistent care.
From the beginning, Church Quake has believed that ministry means meeting people where they are.
It means sharing the Gospel with those who need hope, feeding those who are hungry, caring for children who have no one else, and reaching into communities where people are hurting.
Church Quake exists to bring the hope and truth of Jesus Christ to people who need to know they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.
Faith is put into action by responding to real needs — providing food, practical support, and compassion where people are hurting.
The mission includes protecting and caring for vulnerable children, giving them a place to belong, grow, learn, and look toward the future.
Church Quake reaches into communities with hands-on ministry, practical help, outreach, and a commitment to walk alongside people in need.
Today, a new chapter of Church Quake is beginning.
Abbie Jennings is helping carry forward the legacy her grandfather, Pastor Don Burkhalter, began more than two decades ago.
She saw firsthand the heart her grandfather had for people and the sacrifices made to serve others. She grew up understanding that ministry is not confined to the four walls of a church.
It happens wherever there is someone who needs hope, someone who needs food, a child who needs to know they are loved, or a family that needs someone willing to stand beside them.
The foundation remains
Jesus Christ.The mission remains
Serving People.The heart remains
Reaching Those Who Need Hope. The vision continues
To Grow. For Abbie, carrying Church Quake forward is deeply personal.
It is about honoring what her grandfather built while showing the next generation what it truly means to serve others. She wants her children to understand that when God blesses us with resources, opportunities, influence, or a platform, those blessings can be used to make a difference in someone else's life.
This is about family.Church Quake was built on the conviction that Jesus Christ must remain at the center and that real ministry reaches beyond words into service.
The work continues with the same concern for those who are hurting, overlooked, hungry, vulnerable, or simply in need of someone willing to show up.
Abbie wants her own children to grow up understanding that success is not measured only by what we build for ourselves, but by what we are willing to do for someone else.
The calling continues from one generation to the next, creating new opportunities to serve while preserving the foundation that began in 2003.
Church Quake is entering its next chapter with the same mission it began with in 2003:
To bring the life-changing love of Jesus Christ to people around the world while meeting real, tangible needs along the way.We believe the Gospel should be preached.
We believe the hungry should be fed.
We believe children should be cared for.
We believe communities can be changed.
We believe one act of compassion can impact a life — and one changed life can impact generations.
What began with a vision carried by Pastors Don Burkhalter and Tom Akins continues today as that vision is passed from one generation to the next.
The mission grows. And together, we will continue working to shake the earth with the life-changing power and love of Jesus Christ.
