01Safeguarding Expectations
A Shared Responsibility

Protect the Child.Honor the Relationship.

Safeguarding Comes First

These expectations are intended to help protect children connected to Church Quake International and to establish clear, respectful boundaries for adults participating in ministry, sponsorship, pen-pal programs, mission service, and outreach.

A child's safety and dignity take priority over access.
01
Safety First

Protect Children From Harm

Any ministry activity involving children should prioritize their physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational safety.

Adults participating in ministry, mission service, sponsorship, pen-pal activities, or other child-related programs should maintain appropriate boundaries and follow Church Quake International's safeguarding expectations.

02
Appropriate Contact

Keep Relationships Accountable

Contact with children should be appropriate to the ministry purpose, respectful, and subject to appropriate supervision or accountability.

Adults should not seek unauthorized private access to a child, arrange unsupervised meetings, or attempt to move a relationship outside the channels established by Church Quake International.

03
Pen Pal & Sponsorship

Communicate Through Church Quake

Pen-pal and sponsorship communication should be coordinated through Church Quake International rather than through direct personal contact information exchanged between an adult participant and a child.

Letters, messages, gifts, photographs, or other materials connected to these programs may be reviewed, routed, or managed by Church Quake International for safeguarding, privacy, and program administration.

04
Privacy & Dignity

Protect a Child's Identity

Children should be represented with dignity. Personal details should not be shared simply because they are available through ministry involvement.

Addresses, phone numbers, private contact information, sensitive family circumstances, medical information, school details, precise locations, or other information that could unnecessarily identify or expose a child should be treated carefully.

05
Photos & Stories

Share Responsibly

Photographs, videos, stories, and other information involving children should only be used in a manner consistent with appropriate consent, privacy, dignity, and ministry purpose.

Content should never exploit a child's hardship, embarrass a child, expose unnecessary sensitive information, or portray children primarily as fundraising objects.

06
Conduct

Respectful Behavior Is Required

Adults interacting with children through Church Quake International should communicate respectfully, avoid inappropriate language or conduct, and maintain boundaries that protect both the child and the integrity of the ministry relationship.

Any behavior that is abusive, exploitative, sexualized, coercive, threatening, degrading, manipulative, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate is inconsistent with these safeguarding expectations.

Clear Boundaries

Sponsorship Does Not MeanUnrestricted Access.

Sponsorship, pen-pal participation, mission involvement, giving, or other support does not create a right to private access, personal contact information, unsupervised communication, photographs, records, or confidential information about a child.

Church Quake International may establish, limit, review, or end communication and participation when necessary to protect a child, preserve privacy, maintain appropriate boundaries, or support responsible program administration.
